phuṭ·kar I. a 1. miscellaneous [ख़र्च expenses, चीज़ें articles, माल goods]. 2. retail [क़ीमत price, बिक्री sale]; ~ व्यापारी retailer. II. mu small change: दो रुपये का ~ -- for two rupees.

fazūl·ḵẖarchī fu extravagance: ~ में बेटे ने सब कुछ नष्ट कर दिया the son wasted everything in --; ~ करना to be extravagant; △ ~ पर कमर बाँधे रखना to burn the candle at both ends.

phaṭ·kār·na vt (a) to rebuke, to chide: बच्चे को शरारत के लिए ~ -- a child for mischief. (b) to give a jerk: कपड़ा ~ -- to a cloth. [syn. (a) डाँटना]

fāīkṭarī fc factory. = कारख़ाना q. v.

² fiṭ a tit: यह चीज़ ~ है this thing is --; ~ आना to fit (vi): जूता ठीक ~ आ गया the shoe fitted well; ये मोज़े ~ आते हैं these socks fit (well); ~ करना to fit: फ़र्श पर तख़्ता ~ करना to fit a plank on the floor. [syn. सही]
