tab·dīl a [predicative] (a) changed, altered; ~ करना to change, to alter; ~ होना to change [syn. बदलना]: कपड़े ~ कर लो change your clothes; कपड़े ~ हो गये clothes (were) changed. (b) transferred; ~ करना to transfer; ~ होना to be transferred: क्लर्क को यहाँ से ~ कर दो transfer the clerk from here; क्लर्क ~ हो गया the clerk was transferred. [cf. बदलना, n. तबदीली]

tanmay·tā fu absorption, preoccupation: मन की ~ -- of mind. [a तन्मय]

taḵẖta mc (a) throne: ~ छोड़ना to abdicate the --; ~ पर बिठाना to enthrone; ~ पर बैठना to ascend the throne; ~ से उतारना to dethrone. (b) a low big wooden seat, takht: वे तख्तों पर सोते हैं they sleep on -- s; ~ पोश bed-sheet.

tāz·gī fu freshness: छाया में ~ आ जायेगी will get -- under the shade, will be refreshed under the shade; लिखावट में ~ लाना to bring -- in writing. [a ताज़ा]

¹ tārā mc star [चमकता bright, ध्रुव load/pole, प्रभात का morning]; तारोँ का पुंज cluster of --s; तारे टिम- टिमाते; (टूटते, चमकते) हैं stars twinkle (shoot, shine). △ तारे गिनना to count the --s, to keep awake all the night; तारे तोड़ लाना to perform the impossible; तारे दिखाई देना to see stars fleeting before the eyes, to be perplexed.

toṛ-maroṛ mc distortion: तथ्यों का ~ -- of facts; उसने मेरे शब्दों को ~ दिया he/she distorted my words.

taḵẖtā mc plank, board: लकड़ी का ~ wooden -- दरवाज़े के लिए तख़्ते -- s for a door; तख़्ते बिछाना

tal·haṭī fc foot-hill, sub- mountain region = तराई.

tir·chhā a slanting, oblique [कैमरा camera, खंभा pole]; तिरछी ऊँचाई (किरणें, छतें, रेखा) -- height (rays, roofs, line). [cf. टेढ़ा]
