ṭhū̃s·nā, ठूसना ṭhūs·nā vt to cram, to stuff fully: बैग में चीज़ें ~ -- articles in a bag; ठूँसकर खाना to cram oneself, to eat to excess.

/ठंढा ṭhaṇḍā/ṭhaṇḍhā a (a) cold; cool [दिन day, कमरा room, पानी water]; ठंडी/ठंढी रात (हवा, साँस, जलवायु) -- night (wind, breath, climate). (b) बाज़ार ~ है the market is dull; किसी को ~ करना to pacify smb; ~ पड़ना/होना to cool down, to be pacified. △ वह वहीं ~ हो गया he became lifeless there; ~ करके खाओ blow first and sip afterwards, lie patient; ~ लोहा गरम लोहे को काटता है a soft answer turns away wrath; कलेजा ~ होना to have one's revenge, to feel happy; ठंडी/ठंढी साँस/आह भरना to heave a deep sigh; ठंढे-ठंढे during the cool hours of the day. ṭhes fu (a) hurt, blow: उसने शीशे पर ~ लगाई he/she gave -- at the glass-pane. (b) shock: मेरे मन को ~ पहुँचाई gave me a mental shock, hurt my heart; किसी के सम्मान को ~ पहुँचाना to hurt one's dignity.

ṭhuḍḍī fc chin = ठोड़ी q. v.

/ठंढ ṭhaṇḍ/ṭhaṇḍh fu cold, chilliness: वह ~ से ठिठुर रहा है he is shivering with --; कड़ाके की ~ पड़ रही है it is severely cold; मुझे ~ लग गई, मैं ~ खा गया I caught cold. [syn. जाड़ा]

ṭhappā mc (a) mould, die: सिक्के या खिलौनै बनाने का ~ -- for minting coins or making toys. (b) stamp: इस कपड़े या काग़ज़ पर अपना ~ ल़गा दो put your -- on this cloth or paper. [syn. (b) छाप]

ṭheṭh a (a) typical [पंजाबी Panjabi, ब्राह्मण Brahmin]. (b) unsophisticated [बोली speech/dialect, भाषा language].

/ठाठ-बाट ṭhāṭ(h)-bāṭ f (m)c luxury, pomp and show: वह बड़े ~ से रहता है he lives with great --; घर की/का ~ luxury of the house.

ṭhokar fc 1. kick: ~ मारना/ लगाना to kick, △ to despise; एक ~ से with one --; △ ~ लगे तब आँख खुले failure makes one cautious, one becomes cautious after adversity. 2. stumbling block: △ ~ खाना to stumble; ~ खाकर गिरना to stumble and fall; (pl.) ठोकरें खाना to suffer misfortune: ठोकरें खाते फिरना to loiter about tossed by misfortune.
