lāchār a (a) helpless [आदमी person, हालत condition]; वह पैसे के बिना ~ है he is -- without money; ~ होकर वह लौट आया Being --, he came back. (b) constrained, compelled: उसे ऐसा करने के लिए ~ किया गया he was -- to do so. cf. वह कोई काम करने से ~ है he is unable to do any work, वह कोई काम करने को ~ है he is forced to do some work. [syn. विवश, मजबूर]

lāyaq a (a) able [नौकर servant, लड़का boy, लड़की girl]; मैं वहाँ जाने ~ नहीं था I was not -- to go there. (b) fit: खेती के ~ ज़मीन field -- for agriculture; रहने ~ मकान house -- for living. [syn. योग्य]

lambāī-chāūṛāī fu dimensions: कमरे की ~ -- of a room.

lāt fc kick: घोड़े की ~ -- of a horse; मैंने उसे ~ मारी I kicked him/it; मेरे पेट पर ~ पड़ी I received a -- on my stomach; लातें खाना to endure --s; ज़ोर से ~ जड़ना to kick hard. △ लातों के देवता/भूत बातों से नहीं मानते rod is the logic of fools, mere words do not suffice when rod is necessary.

līn a [predicative] (a) absorbed: काम में, ध्यान में, पूजा में ~ -- in work, in meditation, in worship. (b) merged: यह क्षेत्र अपने राज्य में ~ कर लिया merged this region with his state.
