(c) to avoid: शराब से ~ -- liquor; झूठ बोलने से बचो avoid telling lies. (d) to survive: परिवार में कोई नहीं बचा no one survived in the family; अनेक कष्टों से केवल वही बच पाया only he could survive after many difficulties. (e) to remain: मैंने एक सेब खाया, एक बच रहा है I ate one apple and one remained. (f) बचो ! take care ! be out of way. [vt बचाना, n. बचाव]

boṭī fc chop, small piece of flesh or meat: ~ उतारना to bite off a --; बोटी ~ फड़कना to be restive/thrilled; ~ बोटी करना/तोड़ना to cut into small pieces; to beat severely; बोटियाँ उड़ाना to cut into pieces.

bāl·ṭī fc bucket: पानी की ~ -- of water; लोहे की ~ steel --; ~ भर दूध bucketful of milk; पूरी ~ full --; ~ ख़ाली है the -- is empty.

bor a bored: मैं बहुत ~ हुआ I was very much --; किसी की ~ करना to bore smb.

bechārā I. a helpless, poor, unfortunate [कुत्ता dog, लड़का boy]; बेचारी बूआ (चिड़िया, बिल्ली) the -- aunt (sparrow, cat); बेचारे नन्हे-नन्हे बच्चे the -- little children. II. mc the poor fellow: ~ गिरा और मर गया -- fell down and died.
