tāīr·nā I. vi (a) to swim: लड़का तैर रहा है the boy is swimming; हम नदी या तालाब में तैरते हैं we swim in a river or a tank; चलो तैरने चलें let us go for swimming; वह तैरकर नदी के पार गया he swam across the river; वह नहर न तैर सकता था he could not have swum the canal. (b) to float: आकाश में बादल तैर रहे हैं clouds are floating in the sky; नदी में लकड़ी (लाश, नाव) तैरती है wood (dead body, boat) floats on the river; नदी-तल पर तेल तैर रहा था oil floated on the surface of the river. II. mu swimming: वह ~ नहीं जानता he does not know --.

tay a [predicative] decided, settled: यह ~ हो गया है it has been --; ~ करना to decide, to settle; मामला ~ करना to settle an affair.

tathāpi conj even then, still, yet: दवा मिली ~ आराम नहीं मिला I got the medicine -- I did not get relief; यद्यपि वह छोटा है ~ समझदार बहुत है although he is younger, -- he is much wiser. [note the correlatives यद्यपि... तथापि; syn. तो भी, फिर भी]

turshī fu (a) sourness, acidity: फल की ~ -- of a fruit; (b) मिज़ाज की ~ ill temper.

taraf·dārī fu partiality, taking side; ~ करना to be partial, to take sides; मैं किसी की ~ नहीं करता I am not partial to anybody, I take sides with nobody. [syn. पक्षपात]

tandurust a healthy [आदमी man, औरत woman, बच्चा child]; ~ लगना to look --. [syn. स्वस्थ is more common]

tulya a equal: यह उसके ~ है it is -- to that. [syn. बराबर]

tamīz f etiquette, decorum, manners: ~ से बात करो talk with --; ~ सीखना to learn -- [syn. शिष्टाचार]

tale-ūpar adv. one upon the other: ~ के बच्चे children born in succession; ~ करना to turn topsy-turvy; ~ होना to become topsy-turvy; ~ जी होना to feel uneasy.
