jabhī adv [ = जब ही] as soon as, when: ~ मैं घर पहुँचा ... -- I reached home...; ~ तो that is why, therefore: ~ तो ऐसा हुआ -- it so happened; ~ से since then: ~ से वह बीमार है -- he has been ill.

jāṛā (a) mu cold: ~ लगना to feel --; जाड़े से ठिठुरना to shiver with --. [syn. ठंड, सरदी]. (b) mu winter [कड़ा severe, नरम mild]: ~ बिताना to spend --; जाड़े की छुट्टियों में during -- holidays; जाड़ों में दिन छोटे होते हैं in -- days are short.

jãbhāī fc yawning; बुख़ार से पहले जँभाइयाँ आती हैं we have yawns before fever; ~/जँभाइयाँ लेना to yawn: वह ~ लेते हुए उठ ख़डा हुआ he stood up yawning.

jālā 1. mc cobweb: मकड़ी का ~ spider's --/web; मकड़ी ~ बुनती है a spider spins its web. 2. mu cataract: आँख का ~ -- in the eye. [cf. जाल, जाली]
