ghāyal I. a wounded, injured [आदमी man, औरत woman, जवान soldier, टाँग leg, हाथ hand]; बुरी तरह ~ severely --, badly hurt; लड़ाई में ~ -- in action. ~ करना to injure: एक लड़के ने किसी को ~ कर दिया a boy --/hurt smb. ~ होना to be injured/wounded: वह दुर्घटना or युद्ध में ~ हो गया he was -- in an accident या in the war. II. mc injured person, (pl.) the wounded: घायलों को अस्पताल ले जाया गया the -- were taken to the hospital. △ ~ की गति ~ जाने the wearer knows where the shoe pinches. [syn. ज़ख़्मी, n घाव]

ghuṛ chaṛhā mc horse-rider, horseman. [syn. घुड़सवार is more common]

ghanāpan mu thickness: बादलों (आबादी, बालों) का ~ -- of clouds (population, hair).
