gadhā mc (a) ass, donkey; कुम्हार or धोबी का ~ potter's या washerman's --; गधे पर लादना to lay on the --' (s back); गधे रेंकते हैं donkeys bray. (b) fool; वह बिलकुल ~ है he is a perfect --. △ गधे पर चढ़ाना to humiliate; मतलब के लिए गधे को बाप बनाना to flatter a fool for a selfish end; गधे को अँगूरी बाग़ honey is not for donkey's mouth; गधे का जीना थोड़े दिन भला life of a fool, the shorter the better.
