dahal·nā vi to be terrified/terror-stricken: शेर की दहाड़ सुनकर मेरा जी दहल गया/उठा my heart was terror-stricken on hearing the roar of a lion.

duhkhī a and mc afflicted/ distressed/grieved (person): यह समाचार सुनकर मैं बहुत ~ हुआ I was very much grieved to hear this news; किसी की मौत से ~ -- at smb's death; किसी को ~ करना to cause distress to smb.

pul·kit a horripilated, thrilled: अपनी प्रशंसा सुनकर नेताजी ~ हो उठे the leader got -- on hearing his praises.
