lānā vt (a) to bring: पत्र, पानी, पैसा लाओ bring letter, water, money; वह अपनी किताब लाया he brought his book; मैंने उसे एक गेंद ला दी I brought her a ball; डाकिया चिट्ठियाँ लाता है the postman brings letters; किसी काम को सिरे तक ~ -- a work to an end. (b) ला देना to fetch: अगले कमरे से पंखा ला दो fetch a fan from the next room; परिवर्तन ~ to bring about (to effect) a change; आगे ~ to carry over; ख़रीद लाना to bring after buying; किसी को भीतर ~ to usher a person in; किसी को ब्याह लाना to bring smb after marrying.

lāchārī fu helplessness: बच्चे की ~ -- of the infant; ऐसी स्थिति में मुझे ~ हो गई in such a situation, I became helpless. [syn. विवशता, मजबूरी]

latīfā mc joke = चुटकुला is more common.
