naṅgā a (a) naked, nude [आदमी person, बच्चा child]; नंगी लड़की -- girl; वह कमर तक ~ था he was -- to the waist. (b) bare; ~ शरीर -- body; नंगी बाँह -- arm; नंगे पैर bare-footed; नंगे सिर bare- headed. ~ करना to strip naked, to denude, to bare; किसी को ~ करना (fig.) to expose smb. [also नग्न]

nichoṛ mu (a) extract, essence: नींबू (आम, फल) का ~ -- of lime (mango, fruit). (b) gist, substance: बातचीत (कहानी, मामले) का ~ -- of conversation (story, matter). [syn. सार]

nishānī fc (a) sign: मौसम में सुधार की कोई ~ नहीं है there is no -- of improvement in the weather; काली घटा बारिश की ~ है a dark cloud is a -- of rain. (b) token: यह घड़ी उसकी एक ~ हैं this watch is a --/keepsake of his/hers.

naz·dīkī I. a near, close; ~ रिश्तेदार -- relative. II. fu nearness, close relationship: उससे हमारी ~ है we have -- with him.

nek·chalan a of good conduct: बहुत ~ लड़का है he is a boy --; ~ औरत a woman --. [syn. सदाचारी; ant. बदचलन].

naṣṭa a (a) destroyed, ruined: भूचाल से सारा नगर ~ हो गया the whole city was -- by the earthquake; जाति ~ हो गई the nation perished; स्वास्थ ~ करना to undermine one's health; काग़ज़ (मक़ान, शत्रु को) ~ करना to destroy papers (house, enemy). (b) wasted: मेरा जीवन ~ हुआ my life was wasted; ~ करना to waste: रुपया (समय, परिश्रम) ~ करना to waste money (time, labour).

nām·karaṇ mu naming; बच्चे का ~ संस्कार -- ceremony of a child.

nirmāṇ mu making; भवन का ~ construction of a building; कपड़े का ~ manufacture of cloth; चरित्र का ~ character building; शब्दों का ~ formation of words; सार्वजनिक मत का ~ करना to create public opinion; समाज का ~ करना to build a society; पुस्तक का ~ करना to produce a book.
