chhichh·lā a shallow [घाट quay, ज्ञान knowledge, पानी water, व्यक्‍ित person]; छिछली प्लेट (नदी, पोखरी) -- plate (river, pond); ~ स्वभाव mean nature. [n. छिछलापन]

chhamāhi a six-monthly, half-yearly [निरीक्षण inspection, परीक्षा examination, भुगतान payment].

chhih inter. fie ! fie upon you ! छिः छिः tut ! ~ or ~ छिः, यह तो गंदा काम हैं fie/tut ! it is a nasty job, indeed.

chaṭ·paṭāna vi (a) to writhe: बछड़ा दर्द से छटपटा रहा था the calf was writhing with pain. (b) (fig.) to thirst after, to long, to yearn: हम तुमसे मिलने को छटपटाते रहे we have longed/yearned to see you. syn. तड़पना].

chhūt-chhāt fu untouchability = छुआछूत.
