chimaṭ·nā vi (a) to cling: बच्चा माँ से चिमट गया the child clung to the mother. (b) to hold fast: पेड़ से ~ -- to the tree. [syn. चिपकना]

chāūthāī a and mu quarter, one-fourth: ~ इंच -- inch; इंच का एक ~ one -- of an inch; सेब का ~ (भाग) -- of an apple. [cf. सवा quarter plus].

chūm·nā vt to kiss: माँ ने बच्चों को चूमा the mother kissed the children; जार्ज ने मेम साहब का हाथ चूमा George kissed his mistress's hand; ~ -चाटना to kiss and caress: माँ ने बच्चे को चुम-चाट कर सुला दिया the mother kissed and caressed the baby and let her sleep. [see चुंबन]
