dhīraj mu patience, forbearance = धैर्य q. v.

dhāraṇ ~ करना: पद ~ करना to hold an office; व्रत ~ करना to take a pledge; शस्त्र ~ करना to take up a weapon; मन में ~ करना to retain in mind.

dhar-pakaṛ fu arrests: पुलिस ने ~ शुरु कर दी the police started arresting people.

dhokhebāzī fu = धोखा q. v.

dhaṛākā mc crash, explosion; उसने बंदूक़ चलाई तो एक ~ हुआ he fired a gun and there was a crash, धड़ाके से with a loud report: धड़ाके से गोली चली there was a shot with a loud report; वह धड़ाके से उठ बैठा he got up suddenly.

dhak fu ~ से रह जाना to get startled/wonder-struck; जी धक ~ करता है the heart palpitates.

dhokhā mu/c fraud, cheating, deception: सब ~ है it is all fraud. △ धोखे की ट्टट्टी fraudulent device. ~ उठाना/खाना to be taken in, to be deceived; ~ देना to deceive, to defraud; हम उसके धोखे में आ गये, उसने हमें ~ दिया we were deceived by him; तुम मुझे ~ नहीं दे सकते you cannot deceive/ cheat me; धोखे से fraudulently, by cheating: धोखे से हथिया ली seized it fraudulently: धोखे से एक शब्द छूट गया a word got omitted by mistake.
