ḍyūṭī fc duty, obligation = कर्तव्य q. v.

nipaṭ·nā vi (a) to be finished. to be disposed of: काम निपट गया the work was done. (b) to be relieved: मैं ड्यूटी से निपट गया I was relieved from duty. (c) to be settled: झगड़ा निपट गया the dispute was settled. (d) हम उससे निपट लेंगे we shall settle score with him/her.

pāband a bound: क़ानून या नियमों का ~ रहना to be bound by law or rules, to abide by law or rules; ड्यूटी पर ~ रहना to adhere to one's duty; वक़्त का ~ punctual.
