bik·nā vi to sell, to be sold: गेहूँ स़स्ता बिक रहा है wheat is selling cheap; इस दुकान में जूते बिकते हैं in this shop shoes are sold; यह माल मुश्किल से बिकता है these goods sell with difficulty; हाथों हाथ ~ to find a ready sale. △ किसी के हाथ बिक जाना to come under smb's complete control.

bikhar·nā vi (a) to scatter: बादल (बीज, लोग) बिखर गये clouds (seeds, people) scattered away. (b) बाल बिखरे हुए थे hair was dishevelled.

beshak adv undoubtedly, certainly: ~ यह अच्छी चीज़ है -- it is -- a good thing; करोगे ? ~ will you do it ? --.

banāīlā a wild: ~ हिरन -- deer; बनैली भैंस -- buffalo; बनैले साँप -- snakes. [syn. जंगली]

be- pref. without, in-, un-: बे-अदब impolite; बे-इंसाफ़ी injustice; बेकार unemployed; बेघर homeless; etc. [see below. There is a large number of such words, mostly, बे be- + noun = adj. or adv Noun is formed by · ī suffix.]

bas·nā vi (a) to inhabit: ये लोग जंगल में बसे हुए हैं these people inhabit the forest; गाँव बस गया the village was inhabited. (b) to settle: वे जातियाँ यहाँ आई और बस गई those tribes came and settled here. (c) दिल में or आँखों में ~ to stay/live in one's heart या eyes. [vt बसाना]

bãdh·vānā, बँधाना bãdhā- nā [caus. of बाँधना] vt (a) गाय ~ to get a cow tied. (b) पुल ~ to get a bridge constructed. (c) पुस्तक की जिल्द ~ to get a book bound. (d) हिम्मत/धीरज ~ to prompt one to take courage/heart. (e) चोरों को ~ to get the thieves nabbed.
