uṭhānā vt 1. to lift, to raise; आँख (आवाज, परदा, सिर, हाथ) ~ to raise eyes (voice, curtain, head, hands); एक हाथ से ~ to lift/raise with one hand; प्रश्न ~ to raise a question. 2. to carry; झंडा (थैला, प्लेट, सामान, सूटकेस) ~ to carry the flag (bag, plate, luggage, suit-case); किसी को (किसी चीज़ को) पीठ पर ~ -- smb (smth) on one's back. 3. नींद से ~ to rouse from sleep, to awaken; काग़ज़ के टुकड़े उठा लो pick up the pieces of paper; कष्ट or हानि ~ to suffer/experience trouble या loss; कर्ज़ ~ to contract debts; फ़सल ~ to grow a crop; फ़ायदा/लाभ ~ to derive gain; मकान ~ to let out a house; जोखिम ~ to take the risk; उठा देना [intensive of उठाना] to lift/raise up, etc.; उठा रखना to put by, to postpone; उठा लेना [intensive] to lift/raise up [for oneself]; उठा ले जाना to carry away; △ कोई कसर उठा न रखना not to leave any stone unturned.
