(b) to be built: मकान बन रहा है house is being built; ईंटों का बना built of bricks. (c) to become: वह राजा बन बैठा he became a king; भतीजा मालिक बन गया the nephew became the owner. (d) to feign: वह अनजान/अंधा बनता है he feigns to be ignorant/blind. (e) वह बनता है he assumes airs; अंत बन गया the end was accomplished; सौदा बन गया the bargain was settled; हजामत बन गई shaving was done; (fig.) was looted; बने रहो may you live ! तुम इसी तरह बने रहना you should persist like this; बनना ठनना/सँवरना to prank, to adorn oneself; वह बनठन कर जा रही है she is strutting.
