prāṇ mc [usu. pl.] life (breath): ~ आना (also ~ में आना) to be reanimated, △ to feel relieved of scare; ~ उड़ जाना to lose life, △ to get terribly panicky; ~ गले तक आना to be on the verge of death, △ to be in terrible suspense; ~ छूटना/जाना/ निकलना to expire: उसने ~ छोड़ दिये he expired; ~ डालना to infuse life; ~ देना to give up life; किसी पर ~ देना to love more dearly than life; प्राणों पर आ बनना to be under the risk of life; प्राणों पर खेलना to stake one's life; ~ बचाना to save life; ~ मुठ्ठी में लिये फिरना to be ever ready to court death; ~ लेना to kill; ~ रहने तक so long as life lasts.
