nir- pref. without [as in निरंकुश, निरंतर, निरर्थक, निराधार, निराशा, निर्जीव, निर्दोष, निर्बल, निर्मल, etc. used before words beginning with a vowel or a voiced consonant: also see नि:, निस्].

nirdoṣ a (a) innocent [रीति way, हँसी smile, व्यक्‍ित person]. (b) not-guilty: उसे ~ ठहराया गया he/she was declared --. (c) flawless [चरित्र character, वस्तु thing]. [syn. a & b निरपराध]

nirdoṣ·ta fu innocence: मुझे उसकी ~ का विश्‍वास था I was sure of his/her --; किसी की ~ सिध्द करना to prove smb's --.

spaṣṭatayā, स्पष्टतः spaṣṭataḥ adv clearly; उसे ~ समझा दीजिए explain to him/her --; वह ~ निर्दोष है he/she is -- innocent. [syn. साफ़-साफ़]
