taṅg a (a) tight [कालर collar, जूते shoes, बनियान vest, सूट suit]. (b) tight, hard up; ~ हाल tight condition, straitened circumstances; ~ वक़्त hard times; वह रुपये से ~ है he is -- with money. nikammā a 1. idle: आजकल वह ~ है he is -- these days. 2. worthless; good-for-nothing, useless: ~ आदमी -- fellow; निकम्मी पढ़ाई -- education; ~ करना to render useless. [syn. बेकार]

niṭhallā a idle, without any employment; ~ आदमी idle person, a man without employment; निठल्ली औरत idle woman; वह इधर-उधर ~ घूमता है he wanders about idly. [syn. बेकार, निकम्मा]
