jhāṛan I. mc duster: कपड़े का ~ cloth --; ~ से कुर्सी साफ़ करो dust the chair with a --. II. f sweepings: कमरे की ~ (बटोरन) बाहर फेंको throw the sweepings of the room out.

jhāṛ·nā vt 1. to dust, to wipe, to clean: मेज़ ~ to -- a table; फ़र्श ~ to clean/sweep the floor. 2. to shed: मुर्गे अपने पंख़ झाड़ते हैं cocks shed their feathers. 3. to extort: पुलिस ने दो रुपये झाड़ लिये the police extorted two rupees. 4. to shake off: सिर or हाथ ~ -- head या hands. 5. to rebuke, to reprimand: मैंने उसे ख़ूब झाड़ा I rebuked him badly.
