sak·nā [always auxiliary] vi (a) can, be able: मैं जा सकता हूँ I can go; वह न पढ़ सका he could not read; तुम क्या नहीं आ सकते ? can't you come ? हाँ, आ सकता हूँ yes, I can; हम नहीं कर सकेंगे we shall not be able to do. (b) may: क्या मैं भीतर आ सकता हूँ may I come in ? (c) be possible: यदि हो सके if possible; जितनी जल्दी हो सके as soon as possible; जहाँ तक हो सके as far as possible.
