laṛānā vt (a) to cause to fight: तुम भाइयों को लड़ाते हो you cause a quarrel between the brothers; बटेर, मुरगे ~ to make quails, cocks fight. △ आँख ~ to fall in love; गप ~ to indulge in gossip; जान ~ to stake one's life; दिमाग़ ~ to exercise one's brain. (b) लाड लड़ाना to fondle, to dandle: बच्चे को लाड ~ -- a child.
